Well, I just returned home from another amazing trip, and let me just say, “I LOVED IT!” Washington, D.C. is one of my favorite places to visit in the United States. There is just something about the city that makes my heart so happy and prideful. So many historic, ground-shattering things have happened in this city. It is so great that our nation has worked hard to preserve our history so families young and old can learn more.

I have visited D.C. several times, but in the past, we had always stayed in the city. This time, we stayed in Crystal City {right next to the Pentagon}. It was a whole different experience, and we rode the Metro more times than I can count! It was great to have a different angle on the city and to see it more like locals {one of my favorite things to do!}. We did SO much walking. Y’all, I am not sure when the last time I got 21,000+ steps in one day. We did three days of intense walking, and my feet were feeling the pain by the end of the trip! Since this was Hayden’s first trip, we visited all the major landmarks and Smithsonians. We weren’t sure when he would be back so we packed a tight schedule! In just one day, we visited 3 Smithonians, went through the Holocaust Museum, and took a tour of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing {where money is made}! For the first time, I was able to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights {all of which I was not allowed to take pictures of}. It was such a great trip, and I am so excited to be going back in just three weeks!

Take a peek at our trip – I captured it with both my *real* camera and iPhone. P.S. If you’re in the D.C. area in July, let me know! I’d love to schedule a session while I am in the area again!

xoxo,
Haley Nicole

I became a Metro Pro {pretty sure that’s not a real thing}. It was a huge accomplishment for this direction-challenged girl. Illinois Senior & Wedding Photographer - D.C. Photographer

Last time I visited, the new Capitol visitor center was not finished. It looks incredible now, and I highly recommend everyone checking it out! P.S. there was no lines for the tour. How amazing is that?!
