What’s in my bag? || Midwest Photographer
Hey y’all, this blog has been requested several times, and I’m so glad to finally get to share this content with you! Starting out as a photographer is no joke. There’s a lot more to it then just grabbing a camera and pushing a button. Having great equipment and being prepared for any situation can help bring your business and photos to the next level. I fully believe having great equipment doesn’t make you a great photographer – I’m sorry, I wish it was that easy! It’s just like holding a nice stethoscope doesn’t give me knowledge about the medical field {nope, just gonna leave all of that to Hayden}. Owning great equipment can make your images pop, but truly it all comes back to who’s taking the photos.
Here’s what I’m currently carrying in my bag!
Bag: Amazon Basics {Link}
Cameras: Canon 5D Mark II & Canon 7D {5D Link & 7D Link} I’m hopeful I will get to upgrade in the next year!
Speedlight: Canon 430EX III {Link}
Lenses: 50 mm {Link} 35 mm {Link} & 70-300 mm {Link}
Camera Straps: BlackRapid Strap {Link} & On wedding days I use a custom double strap leather harness {similar}
Reflector: Insignia 32″ {Link}
Step Stool: Cosco Steel Step Stool {Link} I seriously bring this thing everywhere.

So that’s it for now! Of course, I want to add more and upgrade more, but this is it for now. For different occasions, I will rent a set of prime lenses to use. Also, if you’re looking to buy a camera or lenses second hand, I suggest purchasing through B&H photo. They are amazing, and they check everything over thoroughly before putting it online. I’ve had great experience with this in the past!
