Part of my business goals for 2019 is to bring you more educational content! I know when I started my own business almost two years ago, there was so much I didn’t know. I had to learn very quickly what did and didn’t work. One major thing was learning how to efficiently work from home.

I hate to say this a make or break thing – but if you run a business out of your home or perform your job remotely, it is. You need to know how to efficiently work in your home environment. If you don’t, you will never complete work, and you will never make a profit.

So today, I am sharing 5 tips to help you efficiently work from home!

  1. Start Early

I’m sorry if you’re not an early morning person, but I firmly believe starting to work early will help keep you motivated. I know some people prefer to work at night, but I’ve found that getting things started early in the morning can really help kickstart my day. If your business is a side hustle, and you feel that you only have the evenings to work on it – try giving just 15-20 minutes to it in the morning. Answering a few emails and planning out your evening’s work, can really help streamline your daily workflow.

  2. Listen to Music

I LOVE listening to things while I work. {Now, if I am doing any type of writing, I can’t listen to anything as it mixes me up.} When I’m doing nearly anything while working, I enjoy listening to music. I’ve found that it helps keep me alert, energized, and it passes time! I know some enjoy listening to TV shows or movies while working – if you do this, make sure it’s a show that you know the characters/plot well so that you don’t have to listen to every word. You want to make sure that it’s HELPING you focus not taking you away from your work.

  3. Stay Hydrated!

I seem to fail at this…daily. Really, I need to get a lot better, but I have found that when I do drink more water throughout the day, I feel SO much better at the end of the day. I feel fresher and more alert. It also helps with reducing headaches. I’m working on this!!

  4. Sit Next to a Window

Okay, so I’m pretty sure there is some research behind this, but I feel so much more inspired and motivated when I sit next to a window. I think it has to do with Vitamin D??? Y’all, I don’t know, but I’m telling you, try sitting next to a window. I really don’t have much more to add – do this – you’ll thank me later! 😉

  5. Get up and Get MOVING!

So, obviously you want to work, but I think it’s good to get up and move a few times during the day. Nothing big, but try every hour or two to get up and move. I purposely use a smaller water bottle so that I have to get up to fill it up. I have a bad habit of literally sitting in one spot for eight/nine hours and only getting up once. I know, it’s really not that great. Sure I get A LOT of stuff done, but at the end of the day I feel BEAT. I feel exhausted. I’ve noticed that I feel so much better and more energized when I take time to get up and move. The important part is when you get up, get off your screen. Maybe step out on your front porch, or maybe just walk around the room. Make it a point to not look at screens during this time.

I hope this helps you in your own work-from-home life! Let me know if you have any efficiently questions or small business questions – I’m so excited to bring more free education to you this year!

xoxo,
