Hi ya, Pal! It’s me, Mickey Mouse!

Can you tell we know a thing or two about Mickey Mouse around here! This past weekend, we celebrated Beckham’s first birthday, and it was a blast! We wished we could’ve had more people over, but we tried to keep things small to be safe with covid. We also decided early on to do everything outside – which made for some craziness on the day of the party. The windy was CRAZY, and I had never done a balloon arch before. The display of everything wasn’t exactly how I had planned…but you do what you can! We had the party outside amongst VERY windy circumstances, but it was still so much fun!

Our theme – Mickey Mouse…but make it cute!

Beckham isn’t super into watching TV (praise God), but he does love the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song. We decided to create a Modern Mickey Party. Instead of cheesy, Mickey decor full of all the colors of the rainbow, we stuck with black, white, and pops of red. It was so much fun – and I love that the leftover decor we will be able to likely use for future parties.

I’m ALL about saving money – and doing things for CHEAP! So, we used what we already had (big photo backdrops), and I added a few fun things to dress the party up. Not pictured: I strung a photo from each of his monthly photoshoots across the back of the dessert backdrop. I LOVED how it turned out (just not showing for B’s privacy), but I had all of the images in black and white and then had them printed in 4×4 squares.

Beckham’s smash cake was one of my FAVORITE parts – and it was SO great! Our friend, Roger, made it, and it was so yummy!! The cupcakes were a team effort (my mom, myself, and my MIL). I found a few pinterest looks and threw them together for a cookies and cream Mickey Mouse cupcake. DEVINE!!!!! The recipe is listed below.
