The week leading up to a big event always flies by, but out of all of the event planning I’ve done, the week leading up to our wedding was by far the craziest. Your emotions are everywhere, friends and family are traveling, and something at some point has to go wrong {seriously, it’s inevitable}. While you’re only days away from the happiest day of your life, you’re likely extremely stressed, sleep deprived, and plain exhausted.

I know that I’m not alone in this matter and many other brides have felt the stress of the week before their wedding. So, I’m sharing a few pointers I wish I would have known at the time!

  1. Pre-Plan

Okay, so many this is a given, but I think it’s important to note. The month leading up to our wedding, I planned what I would tackle each week that way the last week wouldn’t be complete chaos. Now, it was still chaos, but it was organized chaos! 😉 I planned out what I would do each day, and I would run through things in my mind while I was in the car. Our venue was an hour and half from my house, so I knew that once I got there, I needed to have everything with me for the day, because I wouldn’t have time to drive home. Creating a checklist was a HUGE help. I created one for myself and for a few other family members/friends that I knew would be assisting us. I wanted to make the most of the time and effort they were giving me, and the checklist definitely helped in that matter.

  2. Don’t Stress About the Weather

I was constantly checking the weather leading up to our wedding. There was a high chance of rain, and I was nervous how that would effect our day. {Just as a heads up it ended up DOWN POURING the entire morning and evening of our wedding.} While it’s easier said than done, I would really suggest not stressing about the weather leading up to your wedding. Of course, it’s smart to think of a rain plan, but as Hayden is constantly telling me, stressing about the situation doesn’t help it at all. Take all of that energy you’re putting into stressing out, and put it into prepping things for your day.

  3. Plan Buffer Time

This kind of goes along with the first point, but planning “buffer” time or extra time into the days leading up to your wedding is always a good idea. I always add a little extra buffer time into my brides’ timelines to ensure that we stay on time even if there is a small hiccup. The same goes with the days leading up to your wedding, plan for extra time in your day to catch up on what you didn’t complete the day before or to even RELAX!!

  4. Surround Yourself with Encouraging People

The week leading up to your big day is going to be crazy. It’s easy to become overwhelmed. I highly suggest surrounding yourself with encouraging people. This isn’t always possible, but if you can, try to ask people who are full of energy and joy to help you in the days before. Hopefully, their fun and bright energy will remind you that all of this craziness will result in the best day of your life!

  5. ENJOY IT!!

This is SO simple, but it’s definitely the most important tip I can share. Enjoy every single moment of this craziness. Don’t let the stress frustrate you and interrupt this incredibly wonderful and romantic occasion. Take time to fully enjoy the final days of preparation. Get up early and enjoy coffee and quiet time or sleep in late one day and feel more energized. Take some time to spend with your man and talk about excited you are for the big day and life after.

This is such a special and fun occasion, and I am so excited for you! Don’t let the hustle and bustle of wedding planning get the best of you! I know you can handle the prep and planning like a pro! You’ve got this!

xoxo,
