I always a fan of big dramatic wedding exits – because who doesn’t like it when the wedding feels like a full-on fairytale? However, I know that sometimes it doesn’t always work to have a big final exit at the end of your day. Maybe you’re worried that everyone will leave early, maybe you two will want to leave early, or maybe you’re not able to have your photographer stay that late. Whatever the case is, don’t let that stop you from an incredible wedding day exit.

Cue: FAUX EXIT!!

If you don’t know what a faux exit is, it is the pretty and dreamy exit you’ve envisioned after the reception, but it’s scheduled into your day typically earlier than it would naturally occur. For example, instead of doing a big exit at 11pm when half your guests/bridal party have left, your hair is fall down from dancing, and your photographer’s coverage has ended – you can plan to do a faux exit at 7:30 p.m. right as the dancing gets started! Faux exits are amazing because you still get the big dramatic exit, but you don’t have to stop the party early! You can choose to have everyone participate – or you can choose to just have your family or your bridal party be a part of it.

Basically, everyone steps out for a few photos of the planned exit, and then you go back inside and keep dancing! You’ll be gone for less than 5 minutes, and then the party keeps going! You can choose to do a real exit at the end (again), but at least you’ll know you were able to capture this dreamy moment just as you wanted.

I’m a huge fan of faux exits, and I really wish that I would have included one in our day. I thought a bubble exit from the ceremony was enough, but looking back, I really wish we would have planned an exit at the reception. It’s a completely different – more lively – vibe, and I wish we would’ve included this small addition to our wedding day. Take a look below at Kati + Connor’s faux exit with ribbons! It was so cute and so much fun!! They choose to have their immediate family and bridal party join them for their faux exit while everyone else continued partying inside.

P.S. If you’re an HNBride, and you’d like to include this in your day – let me know when we start working on your timeline!
