Hey there! It’s crazy time we’re living in! This isn’t just an old blog post – I dare say it’s a historical one! I sure didn’t think when 2020 rolled around that just a few months in, most of America would be told to stay at home for 2+ in an effort to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Maybe you’re like me and you’re pretty exhausted from reading endless articles about how horrible this virus is, and how the coronavirus is DEEPLY impacting the world around us. Just me?

While, these are CRAZY times, I realized the other day that I’ve been preparing for this type of situation for years (okay, maybe not to this extent 😉 ). I will admit that working remotely (and mostly from home) has prepared me to know how to keep my sanity and life going without others constantly around me! Here are some of my TOP tips to keeping your sanity and things to do while being stuck at home – or as we’re calling it these days “social distancing.”

How to Keep Your Sanity:

  1. Keep to a schedule

I know it sounds crazy because you’re now a free person, but I promise that forming (and keeping to) a schedule will give you so much peace of mind. You might claim to be a free spirit, but I’m telling you we’re all creatures of habit! Your schedule doesn’t have to be super tight just a loose outline of the day can easily keep you feeling like your life isn’t falling a part.

  2. Find something to look forward to

This is embarrassing, but the things I typically look forward to are food related!! I typically buy something in my groceries that is a daily snack item. Within my mental “schedule” I typically plan a morning snack, and it’s something that gets me going through my early morning work slump. Other days, I motivate myself by looking forward to a walk/run outside or going to get the mail (all still safe – just stay 6 feet away!). It doesn’t have to be something big – that’s not the point. Find something small that brings you joy and focus on it.

  3. Plan activities!

I know this might sound funny, because you’re likely just at home by yourself or just your immediate family. However, I’ve already mentally planned some fun things to do this next week while we’re at home: game nights, a taco party (even just the two of us), movie marathon. Today’s St. Patrick’s Day, and I decided to be festive even though I won’t see anyone else (besides Hayden). Keep carrying on – keep having fun just as normal.

  4. GET DRESSED UP!!!!

Okay, biggest point of them all – get dressed each and every day. Even if it’s just switching from PJs to fresh leggings, change your outfit when you get up. I suggest getting dressed just as you would if you’d go to work or school. You’ll feel so much more like yourself. Day 1 & 2 you might think staying in your PJs forever is a good idea, but if you keep with it, I promise you’ll start feeling like a couch potato!

Things to Do:

Random list, but I hope this helps you when you’ve ran out of ideas!!

  • Food Nights: Taco Party, Pizza Party, Breakfast for Dinner, Grill out Night (Hamburgers/Hotdogs)
  • Marathon a Movie Series (we’re doing Star Wars)
  • Start a New Book
  • Watch Free Indoor Youtube Workouts – get your heart pumping!!
  • Spring Clean Your Entire Home
  • Reorganize Closets/Drawers/Cabinets
  • Start a New Crafting Hobby (I’ve been wanting to needlepoint!)
  • Set up a group Facetime/Zoom Call with friends and family
  • Enjoy a virtual coffee date with a friend (both have coffee & talk!)
  • Game Night
  • Learn & Practice Calligraphy/Hand-lettering (my favorite teacher is a company called ChalkfulofLove, and they have tutorials!)
  • Dream Up a New Side Hustle
  • Create Pinterest Boards
  • Plan a Trip for the Fall/Winter

I hope this help y’all stay encouraged and joyful through these crazy times. I just want to personally ask and encourage each of you to STAY HOME if you can. Please help slow the spread of this horrible virus. I’ll be sharing what we’re up to in the next few weeks on my Instagram! Stay tuned!
